Frankfurt is a city that never ranked high in my to-visit list, and when trying to find things to see and do there it never really grabbed my attention in the way many other German cities have. But, when faced with cheap flights from there to Iceland, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to explore another German city.
With just two nights in the city, I needed somewhere within easy reach of the train station and city centre, without costing me an arm and a leg. And after staying with Adina in Hamburg, I didn’t think twice about booking this apartment, especially when the hotel only opened a few months before!
Location
Just minutes from the main train station of Frankfurt am Main, and even less from the nearest u-bahn station, Adina Aparthotel is perfectly located for both business and pleasure. Surrounded by the impressive high rise building of the financial district, there’s the ideal balance of work (if you need it!), fun and…shopping! That’s right, there’s an impressive shopping centre just behind the hotel where you can find all you need while away from home, including a supermarket to stock your kitchen.
This swanky aparthotel is new, modern and feels super fresh. Opting for a studio apartment, I was expecting something small and compact. What I instead arrived to was a well-designed space that felt like a fancy version of home. The main room of the studio was sectioned into two – the bedroom area and lounge area. The bedroom area had plenty of space to move comfortably around, with a large TV above the desk at the end of the bed. Floor to ceiling built-in wardrobes lined the wall hiding the safe, ironing board and iron, and storage space, while two bedside tables completed the set.
The other half of the room was partly sectioned off by a cool metal partition, giving the sofa, table and chairs an area of their own.
The bathroom at this place was so nice I wish I could have packed it into my bag and taken it with me! The huge walk in shower was powerful and spacious, with a large floor to ceiling glass screen so you don’t feel boxed in. There’s also a slight slant on the floor to make sure the water flows away rather than into the bathroom – something other hotels could learn from! A spacious counter wrapped around the sink, and mirrors surrounded the well-lit area to remind you how fabulous you look!
Bed
The beds felt like a hug, there’s no other way to explain that kind of comfort. Greeted with a huge bed and individual single duvets in true European style, I knew I was going to sleep well here not having to fight over the duvet. The great thing about the hotel being so new is that the mattress felt fresh, no odd lumps and bumps and the pillows were still so fluffy, allowing your head to just sink into them to a comfortable position. Quite possibly one of the best beds I’ve ever slept on!
